COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee is continuing its mobile food pantries, as they continue to adapt to funding changes.
Over 600 families were able to receive food from one of the mobile pantries Tuesday in Cocke County.
Second Harvest said anyone can pick up food from the mobile pantries. You can find the schedule on the food bank’s website.
At the end of March, the food bank said the U.S. Department of Agriculture cancelled 21 tractor-trailer loads containing $722,000 worth of USDA commodities food. The shipment was funded by the Commodities Credit Corporation, which has been paused for federal review.

The USDA responded to a request for statement days after Second Harvest’s announcement, saying the government agency was still working to make sure people got fed. At the time, the USDA did not answer questions WVLT asked about what the review process for the Commodities Credit Corporation would look like.
To help fill the gap, Second Harvest asks the community to consider donating. The food bank said every dollar donated helps provide three meals to someone in its 18-county service area. Those interested in donating can do so here.
