5 things to do this week: Car shows, live music and more

Bonnerup Car Show

Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services will host a car show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bonnerup parking lot at 2210 E. Main St. All automobiles are welcome, and registration is free. Those bringing their cars are asked to arrive at 9 a.m. There will be food and beverages available for purchase from local vendors and chances to win door prizes drawn at 1:30 p.m.

Thorne Crest Classic Car Show

Thorne Crest Senior Living Community will host its 18th annual car Classic Car Show Thursday, beginning at 4 p.m. for Thorne Crest residents and at 5 p.m. for the general public. There will be many classic cars on display, food and beverage vendors, and prizes given to the winning cars. Parking of participating cars will begin at 2 p.m. It is free to participate and preregistration is not necessary. Those with questions can call 507-373-2311.

Smelt fry at American Legion

There will be an all-you-can-eat smelt meal with fries or onion rings for $18 from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the American Legion Post 56. The Legion will also be doing meat raffles during the event.

Live music by Jamison Murphy 

Musician and songwriter Jamison Murphy will perform live music at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Geneva Bar and Grill at 101 W Main St. in Geneva. Based out of Minneapolis, this will be Murphy’s last stop in May after performing across Minnesota.

Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge Choir

Grace Christian Church of Albert Lea will host a performance of the Adult and Teen Challenge Minnesota Choir at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the church. The choir is made up of 24 clients of Adult and Teen Challenge Minnesota, which offers a variety of services for addiction treatment and recovery. In addition to music, people in the choir will give their testimonies and share practical ways for congregations to help in the fight against addiction. There will be a freewill offering for the organization during the event.
