BLACKFOOT — Seniors at a local high school took a unique spin on their senior prank this year by doing something still memorable, but also heartwarming.
Libby Lindsay, senior class president at Snake River High School in Blackfoot, came across a video online of the idea to bring a child with you to school. She thought it would be a fun idea to have the seniors at her school do that for a senior prank.
“In the past for senior pranks, they’ve always gotten in trouble because they vandalize the school, but I didn’t want to do that,” Lindsay told EastIdahoNews.com. “I still wanted to make it fun for everyone but not cause any harm.”
Lindsay brought the idea up in student council and they decided to move forward with it. She sent out an email to the seniors explaining that for one of their senior pranks — the other senior prank they did was sleep in their principal’s yard — they were invited to bring a kid with them to school on May 20.
Senior Jaden Hansen remembers reading the email from Lindsay and thinking it was a cool idea.
“Sometimes people tend to go a little over the edge with senior pranks,” he said. “This one was good.”
Lindsay said only the seniors knew about the prank, so faculty and staff members were surprised when the seniors started showing up at school with kids. Lindsay brought her 10-month-old cousin with her and Hansen brought his five-year-old little sister with him.

Spending the day at school with the kids they brought was time Lindsay and Hansen cherished. Hansen pointed out how it was fun to see how his sister behaved around other people.
“She had fun in the morning. By the afternoon, you could tell she was not ready for high school,” Hansen said with a laugh.
Lindsay said some students kept their kid with them for their morning classes and took them home during lunch before coming back to school. She said McDonalds was also busy with students who took their kids out to lunch before returning to finish the school day.
“It was so cute to see them all walk around the school,” Lindsay said. “The little kids would make friends with each other and hold hands down the hall. It was really cute.”
Lindsay was happy to see such a positive response from the seniors to help pull off a successful senior prank.
“I wasn’t sure if people would do it or not. I didn’t know if they would think it was dumb,” she said. “So when people actually showed up with all these little kids, it was so much fun to see it all come together.”
The seniors at Snake River High School will graduate Wednesday.
