
FLANDREAU, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – A Flandreau man is using his passion for drumming to give back.
After serving time in prison, he started making and selling drums, and now he’s using that success to mentor local youth, with the hopes of helping them avoid the same mistakes from his past.
Tracii Barse says that drumming and mentorship is part of turning his life around. First, while in prison, and now finding success in creating his business in his Flandreau home back in 2021.
“This song carries me. It’s like an energy. It’s like a song that reels me back when I think about going to do drugs, going to hustle, or going to get angry and fight. Or going to going to be lazy and not get out of bed all day. I want to stay in bed, not go look for a job, not go and take care of something. This song hits me up, this song that I carry in my heart that carries me through life,” said Barse
