Food Reviews with Katie: Mil Amores

I hope you are no longer “Craving Crab” but ready for some Mexican flare at Mil Amores. 

Located at 4509 Sherwood Way, in the strip mall near the Cinemark movie theater, Mil Amores officially opened in August of 2024 serving up a variety of Mexican food. 

As soon as you walk in you are met with colorful and warm LED signs, vines and greenery and a spacious room that is capable of holding many large parties, including mine of 11 people after our choir concert.  

Right as my group and I sat down, the table behind us had a birthday and the staff did not just sing the regular happy birthday song, they played a special version of the song through the speakers in the restaurant and had a dance party for the birthday girl. 

For there being a large group of us, our service was quick and well-spaced. We started with an order of their Queso Supreme which was their chile con queso topped with pico de gallo and ground beef; it was so nice to be able to enjoy our chips and queso and not to feel rushed by our food appearing right after it was brought out.

Then the most important part, the main dishes. My boyfriend decided to try their Tacos De Birria and I think those were my favorite of the night. The tacos were filled with so much flavor and the consome just added to it. Our only complaint was that there were no limes on the plate with the tacos. 

Other dishes that we ordered included the Choripollo, a chicken fajita mixed with house chorizo and smothered with queso, the Smothered Chicken which was grilled chicken topped with Monterrey Jack cheese and bacon and the Carne Guisada with an enchilada. 

All who were with me had nothing but positive things to say, and only one to-go box was needed. 

If their food and atmosphere were not enough to draw you in, on Thursdays they have Ladies’ Night Karaoke and occasionally, they will have a live Mariachi band to serenade guests. 

While Craving Crab may be gone, Mil Amores definitely is a new place I will be visiting quite often not only for the food but for the welcoming and exciting environment.
