
As unexpected and out-of-the-blue as the news may seem at first, in hindsight, the title’s expansion to other platforms should come as no surprise, given the financial and reputational success of Cookie Clicker’s Steam edition.
Though it’s not free to play like its web-based counterpart, the game holds an Overwhelmingly Positive 96% user rating and hit an impressive 67,000 concurrent players at launch, still peaking at 11–12K daily. Those numbers outperform even some AAA games released in 2025, with, for example, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows now seeing only around 5,000 concurrent users at most.
