Flag Football 

Peekskill vs Walter Panas, May 9. (Local Live)

Peekskill opened the week with a cancellation against the Hudson River Trailblazers on Monday, May 5. 

The girls returned to action on Wednesday, May 7, but fell to Lakeland, 38-14. With the win, Lakeland clinched the league championship. 

Peekskill (8-4-3) closed out the regular season on a high note, earning a 12-6 victory over Walter Panas on Friday, May 9. 

With the regular season now over, Section 1 postseason tournament brackets are expected to be released this week, with games set to begin shortly thereafter. 

Spring Track 

From May 8-10, several Peekskill athletes competed at the Glenn D. Loucks Games at White Plains High School.

For the boys, Tony Monchinski finished 11th out of 15 athletes in the pentathlon, scoring 2,327 points. He notched a personal best in the 1,500-meter run, winning the event with a time of 4:37.87. Umaru Conteh finished seventh out of 26 athletes in the high jump, clearing  6’2”.

On the girls side, Arisa Specce finished 10th out of 15 athletes in the 1,600-meter race walk in 9:35.96, while Imani Felder was tied 24th in the high jump with a mark of 4 ‘9″.

Peekskill has a busy schedule this week. On Thursday, May 15, the Red Devils will host a tri-meet against Alexander Hamiltion and Leffell School. Over the weekend, Peekskill athletes will compete in the 2025 Westchester County Championships, held at Hendrick Hudson High School and Yorktown High School.

Softball

The Red Devils had two scheduled games rained out this week, including matchups against Mount Vernon on May 5 and East Ramapo on May 9.

On Wednesday, May 7, Peekskill fell to Mount Vernon at home, 21-8. Jazlynn Parra was 1-for-2 with two RBI, and hit a double. Audrina Mendez was 1-for-3 with a RBI, while Khylee Capozzelli had a hit with a run scored and a RBI.

Up next, Peekskill (5-7) will face Spring Valley in their final game of the regular season on Monday, May 12, at 4:45 p.m. 

Baseball

On Tuesday, May 6, Peekskill fell to Alexander Hamilton on the road, 6-1. The Red Devils were held hitless by a strong performance from Hamilton’s Justin Acevedo, who struck out 13. Peekskill sophomore Jayden Bradby had eight strikeouts. 

Games against Woodlands (May 8) and East Ramapo (May 9) were both rained out.

Now sitting at 3-7, Peekskill will next play Barack Obama School for Social Justice on Tuesday, May 13, at Fleming Field in Yonkers at 4:30 p.m. The team will close out the regular season on Wednesday, May 14, with a 4:30 p.m. game at Woodlands High School.

Boys Lacrosse

Ossining-Peekskill lost 11-5 to Hen Hud on Wednesday, May 7. Captain and Peekskill student Charlie Berardi had two goals and one assist in the effort. 

Two days later (May 9), Ossining-Peekskill bounced back with a 7-2 victory over Eastchester. Berardi added an assist in the win and was honored as one of the team’s six seniors during their Senior Night celebration.

Ossining-Peekskill wrapped up the week on Saturday, May 10, with a 19-5 loss to Byram Hills. Once again, Berardi contributed an assist. The team now sits at 4-8 for the season.

College Corner

Track & Field – Division III: Last weekend, SUNY Plattsburgh’s Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill Class of 2023) finished eighth in the long jump, with a mark of 6.62 meters at the Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza.
