PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Pflugerville Independent School District will offer free meals to children this summer through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s summer meals program.
The program aims to address food insecurity among children who rely on free or reduced-price school meals during the academic year.
“Just as learning doesn’t end when school ends, neither does a child’s need for good nutrition,” a district spokesperson said.
Any child under 18 is eligible to receive meals at seven participating schools, with no registration, proof of age, income or residency required. Visitors must check in at each school’s main office or Extended Day Program registration desk for security purposes.
Participating locations include Dessau, Timmerman, Ruth Barron, River Oaks and Spring Hill elementary schools, Bohls Middle School and Weiss High School. Service dates vary by location, with most sites operating from late May through June or early August. All locations will be closed July 3-4 for holidays.
Most schools will serve both breakfast and lunch.
For additional information or to find nearby summer meal locations, residents can call 2-1-1, text FOODTX to 304-304 or visit summerfood.org.
