Roughly 5,000 people are diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s disease, every year. “Different patients have different reasons why their neurons are degenerating, and I think the more we learn about the specifics of that the more we can work on targeted therapies that I’m very hopeful will be a cure.”
