GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – A food bank is making sure kids don’t go hungry during the summer.
The Food Bank of the Rockies announced they are partnering with Mesa County Libraries with a summer meal program for kids at risk of food insecurity during the summer.
“When school is out of session, many kids lose access to free school meals that they were relying on. We want to make sure kids have the nutrition they need to be able to grow, learn, and thrive, so that’s why we’re working alongside our partners to provide nutritious meals,” says Sue Ellen Rodwick, Western Slope Director for Food Bank of the Rockies.
Starting May 22, children ages 5 – 18 can have free meals at the Central or Clifton library.
The food bank is also partnered with more than 110 Hunger Relief Partners. Every dollar donated can provide enough food for three meals, according to the Food Bank of the Rockies.
