➜ Arcola 3, Sullivan 2. Undefeated Arcola lost its lead when Sullivan tied Friday’s Central Illinois Conference game in the top of the seventh inning, but the Purple Riders mounted their own comeback in the bottom of the eight for the walk-off win. Brody Drake went 1 of 3 with two RBI for Arcola, while Tanner Thomas added a solo home run. Brevyn Whisman struck out 10 in 62/3 innings, but DJ Stevens got the win in relief for Arcola. Cameron Crowe was 1 of 3 with an RBI for Sullivan.
➜ Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 8, Milford 4. Three runs in the top of the fifth inning helped Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin regain its lead against Milford, and three more in the top of the seventh sealed the Vermilion Valley Conference win. Caden Keleminic homered and drove in a team-high three runs for the Blue Devils, with Chaz Dubois and Micah Stanford chipping in two RBI apiece. Keleminic also got the win and struck out 12 in the complete-game victory. Aiden Frerichs and Gage Vogel both doubled for the Bearcats.
➜ Champaign Central 12, Peoria Notre Dame 8. A pair of three-run home runs from Carter Bleakney and Aiden Elliott propelled Champaign Central to Friday’s Big 12 win against Peoria Notre Dame. Ryan Pipkins also had three hits for the Maroons, and Luke McClure was 2 of 3 with three runs scored. Tre Cole got the win after giving up four runs — two earned — on four hits to go with seven strikeouts.
➜ Eureka 9, LeRoy 5. LeRoy faced a nine-run deficit by the end of the second inning, and the Panthers’ comeback attempt with two runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh came up short in Friday’s Heart of Illinois Conference loss to Eureka. Bo Zeleznik had three hits and scored two runs for LeRoy. Braeden Fox had three hits and drove in a run, but took the loss, and Brock Owens doubled and drove in two runs.
➜ Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 10, Fisher 0. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley scored all 10 of its runs in the first inning, ensuring a quick, five-inning victory against Fisher in HOIC play. Brayden Elliott went 2 of 3 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI to lead the Falcons. Trent Wetherell and Parker Baillie also drove in two runs apiece. GCMS starter Graydon Leonard gave up just two hits and struck out five in the shutout win. Andrew Todd had both hits, including a double, for the Bunnies.
➜ Mahomet-Seymour 3, Rochester 1. Mahomet-Seymour’s Max Young scattered five hits in 62/3 innings, gave up just one run and struck out four in the Bulldogs’ nonconference win against Rochester. Camden Heinold provided some pop at the plate, going 2 of 3 with a solo home run. Ray Long also had two hits and one RBI in the win.
➜ Oakwood 17, Cissna Park 0. Five runs in the top of the first inning would have been enough for Oakwood. Nine more in the third and three more in the fourth made sure Friday’s VVC game against Cissna Park didn’t last past that point. Jackson Dudley did almost a third of the damage himself, with the Comets’ third baseman going 3 of 3 with a double and five RBI. Chase Harrison scored three runs and drove in two of his own, with Cam Harris striking out seven in his complete-game win. Jream Renteria took the loss for the Timberwolves, but did double in his lone official at bat.
➜ St. Joseph-Ogden 6, Maroa-Forsyth 1. The top of the St. Joseph-Ogden lineup provided a scoring punch in Friday’s nonconference win against Maroa-Forsyth. Leadoff man Logan Rosenthal was 1 of 3 with two RBI, and Will Haley went 1 of 4 with a home run and two RBI from the two-hole. Nolan Earley was the recipient of that run support, picking up the win after allowing just one run on six hits and striking out seven in a complete game.
➜ Tuscola 8, Meridian 6. Tuscola pushed across a game-changing five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Friday against Meridian. That provided a big enough cushion to fend off a late charge from the Hawks and secure the Central Illinois Conference victory. Connor Musgrave led the Warriors, going 1 of 3 with a home run and four RBI, while Caiden Russo was also 2 of 4 with an RBI. Jon Pettry gave up five runs on seven hits, but struck out eight in six innings and got the win.
➜ Watseka 4, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 3. An early lead proved crucial for Watseka, which fended off a a Georgetown-Ridge Farm comeback attempt to win Friday’s VVC showdown. Austin Morris, James Newell and Andrew Shoemaker had two hits apiece for the Warriors. Ethan Price got the win after allowing three runs — just one earned — on two hits and five walks while striking out six. Jase Latoz was 1 of 2 with an RBI for the Buffaloes.
➜ Westville 12, Salt Fork 2. Three runs in the bottom of the third inning gave Westville the early lead. Nine more in the fifth and sixth innings combined helped the Tigers pull off a run-shortened VVC victory. Cameron Steinbaugh had a big day at the plate for Westville, going 2 of 3 with a triple, home run three runs scored and four RBI, and on the mound with eight strikeouts. Matthew Darling was also 2 of 4 with three RBI, and Chance Quick tripled and drove in two runs. Zayden Bromley was 1 of 3 for Salt Fork and drove in both runs for the Storm.

➜ Armstrong-Potomac 13, Iroquois West 3. Armstrong-Potomac scored at least one run in every inning to run away with Friday’s Vermilion Valley Conference matchup with Iroquois West. Elle Jameson was 3 of 4 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBI to pace the Trojans at the plate. Tinley Parkerson, Acasia Gernentz and Ashlyn Ackerman also drove in two runs apiece. It was more than enough run support for Gernentz, who also got the win after scattering five hits in six innings and striking out seven. Autumn Miller went 2 of 3 with two RBI to lead IW.
➜ Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 8, Milford/Cissna Park 3. Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin book-ended its VVC win against Milford/Cissna Park with three runs in the top of the first inning and five in the top of the seventh. Emma Shelato and Ella Acton were both 2 of 4 with two RBI to lead the Blue Devils, while Draycee Nelson and Ava Acton also had two hits apiece. Lillie Harris led the Bearcats, going 3 of 4 with two RBI.
➜ Champaign Central 4, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 0. Four walks in seven innings was all Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg could get against Haley Helm. Otherwise, the Champaign Central ace was basically untouchable, striking out 11 in a no-hitter for the Maroons. Both Haley Helm and Kaitlyn Helm homered in the win, with the latter driving in two runs, and Maisie Bowers was also 2 of 3 with an RBI for Central.
➜ Eureka 5, LeRoy 0. LeRoy fell behind early against Heart of Illinois Conference rivals Eureka and didn’t have an answer in the home loss. Annie Conn was 1 of 3 with a double to pace the Panthers at the plate. Jacey Hageman took the loss after giving up three runs — two earned — on five hits while striking out four.
➜ Fisher 1, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 0. Fisher’s Leah Graves was a force in the circle and helped her own cause in Friday’s HOIC win against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley. Graves scattered four hits and three walks across seven innings and struck out seven in her complete-game victory. She also drove in the only run of the game in the top of the first inning. Addison Schulze had a team-high two hits for Fisher, while Izzy Gawthrop led the Falcons with the same.
➜ Oakwood 16, Chrisman 0. Oakwood’s Caydence Vermillion struck out 10 in her one-hit performance against Chrisman and helped her own cause going 2 of 3 with three RBI in the VVC win. Irene Rangel was 3 of 4 with four RBI for the Comets, while Gracie Hanner had two hits and scored four runs and Avery Trimmell was 2 of 3 with two RBI.
➜ Salt Fork 4, Westville 3. Salt Fork need every one of its runs scored two at a time in the first and fifth innings Friday against Westville, as the Storm fended off a last-ditch, bottom-of-the-seventh rally by the Tigers for the VVC victory. Morgan Russell finished 2 of 3 with three RBI for Salt Fork, and Alexa Jamison was 3 of 4 with two doubles to make Karli McGee a winner after a complete-game effort. Layla Atwood doubled and drove in all three of Westville’s runs, while Lani Gondzur and Jazmyn Bennett had two hits apiece.
➜ Watseka 14, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 3. Watseka capped its dynamic afternoon with a five-run effort in the top of the sixth inning to deliver the run-shortened VVC victory against Georgetown-Ridge Farm. Christa Holohan was 2 of 3 with a double, triple and three RBI to lead the Warriors. Abigail Neukomm and Emma Klopp drove in two runs apiece. Sarah Parsons got the win after giving up three unearned runs on two hits while striking out four. Annistyn Toey was 1 of 2 with an RBI for the Buffaloes.
In boys’ track and field
➜ At Champaign. Champaign Central won eight events and took home the team title at the Gene Ward Invitational at McKinley Field, beating runner-up Danville by 22 points in the eight-team meet. Caleb Mathias won the 800-meter run and 1,600 for the Maroons, winning the former in 2 minutes, 0.18 seconds and the latter by nearly 13 seconds with a time of 4:36.61. William Hardy also won two events for Central, sweeping the hurdles with a time of 14.66 seconds in the 110 hurdles and a time of 40.07 in the 300 hurdles. Danville’s D’Mario Jackson was also a double winner, placing first in the 100 in 10.97 seconds and the 200 in 21.80 seconds.
