Kunes food collection drive kicks off

QUINCY (WGEM) – For the third time, the Kunes Automotive Group will host its food collection event.

For the next two weeks, residents will be able to drop off non-perishable food at the dealership, located at 221 N 36th Street.

This year, to help increase the number of donations, Kunes has partnered with Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.

Donation acceptance started Thursday with Kunes Auto Group donating four pallets worth of non-perishable food.

Throughout the drive, Kunes will donate over 225,000 meals across the Midwest. While the company can help a lot, all of the heavy lifting can be done by the community.

“The best way to be involved is to donate, Horizons is a great organization here in Quincy. They take care of thousands of meals in providing for the community, and so any type of donation you would make. I know that is probably the very best way to help in this cause,” said Jeffrey Conn, Kunes Honda General Manager.

Conn added that when the collection ends on May 14, Kunes will host a food boxing competition to get the food shipped to people in need.
