Donate non-perishable food items in WTVM’s ‘Boxes to Troops’ Drive

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – May is Military Appreciation Month, and in an effort to support our hometown troops, WTVM is partnering with local groups for our annual food drive starting today.

Hosting the ‘Boxes to Troops’ drive with Navy Federal Credit Union and United Service Organization Georgia, is our way to say to say thank you and send our love and appreciation for Fort Benning soldiers returning from deployment, training exercises and single soldiers stationed away from family and friends.

All donated food items will help USO Georgia build care packages for our Fort Benning soldiers.

We are in need of non-perishable, new, unopened and not expired food items. Here’s an example of some the items you are encouraged to donate:

• Juice Boxes or Drink Pouches

• Candy Bars

• M&Ms, Skittles, Reese’s Pieces, etc.

• Pudding Cups or Fruit Cups

• Granola, Cliff, Chewy, or Kind Bars

• Snack Cakes – Little Debbie, Hostess, etc.

• Nuts & Trail Mix Packs

• Cookies, Rice Krispy Treats

• Mints, Lifesavers, Mentos

• Cheese & Pretzel Dipping Sticks

• Peanut Butter or Cheese Crackers

All items should be individually wrapped and single serving size. Please do not donate toiletries or clothing.
