LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A grand opening that’s been in the works for a long time finally happened on Wednesday.
A handful of food truck owners took part in the grand opening of the Wild Wednesdays at the Food Truck Zone event underneath the Rosa Parks Way overpass near 7th and K streets in Lincoln.
The City of Lincoln owns the land and plans to host food trucks there for people to enjoy local food every other Wednesday through Oct. 15.
People came out to support the small businesses and grab some lunch, even during the rain.
One food truck owner said the city has needed this for years.
“We’re excited that it’s open. We’re excited that it’s… It’s going. This, I mean the rain is you can’t… You can’t predict that. But at the end of the day, this is a success. No matter what. We’ve got lines right here… This is crazy. It’s great,” Toby Antonson, owner of Pork’s Done food truck, said.
The City of Lincoln will share more information about future food truck events on their social media pages.
