WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Food Lion Feeds and Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina (CENC) teamed up for a volunteer day to pack meals for the community.
According to Food Bank CENC, more than 60 Food Lion associates volunteered to pack food boxes, sort produce, and work in community gardens.
At the Wilmington branch, 18,814 meals were packed by volunteers.

“Food insecurity in Wilmington, NC, has risen significantly, affecting more than 76,000 people – an increase of 14,200 from last year,“ Food Bank CENC stated in a release.
More than 450 Food Lion associates volunteered across six food bank branches in North Carolina.
