Registration for First Lady Marie Lee’s Tennessee Kids Serve Summer Challenge now open

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee First Lady is pushing students toward service with her seventh annual Tennessee Kids Serve Summer Challenge in 2025.

Maria Lee’s program encourages students in Tennessee to participate in their communities through service during their summer break.

“Every summer, I am inspired to see the ways kids use their God-given gifts to serve their communities,” Lee said. “I believe kids can greatly benefit in being taught to give back at an early age. It’s our hope that this challenge will instill a spirit of confidence, compassion, and care into Tennessee’s next generation.”

A part of the Lee’s Tennessee Serves initiative, the provocation invites children, from rising kindergarteners up to the sixth grade. Participants will need to finish a service activity from at least two of eight service categories — serving at least two hours — in order to meet the challenge.

Past examples of activities include baking cookies for first responders, putting on a neighborhood food drive, using a lemonade stand to help a local nonprofit, playing bingo with nursing home residents, leading a park clean-up day and more.

The top participants will be able to visit a carnival at the Tennessee Residence in September with the Governor and First Lady.

Registration for the challenged opens Tuesday, April 29. Parents who are interested can find more information and sign up their kids HERE.
