Father and Son Arrested After Fight over Video Game

A father and son, Nathan Lee Taylor, 18, and Scott Martin Taylor, 47, both of Calhoun, were arrested at their home on Camelot Circle.

Reports said that when officers arrived they were advised that Nathan was playing video games when, his father, Scott, told him that he needed to get off so he could get a picture of him in his cap and gown.

Nathan advised Scott he did not want to get off the game at this time, so Scott agreed to give him a few more minutes. A few minutes later, Scott returned and began yelling at Nathan to get off his game and get his picture made. Nathan stated that he and Scott then got into a verbal altercation. Nathan stated Scott became irate and was being very loud. He stated that due to Scott being loud, he approached Scott and began clapping loudly in his face while yelling back.

Nathan stated that Scott then double-hand shoved him, and the fight was on from there. Nathan stated that the physical altercation happened so fast that he did not recall what occurred.

Nathan sustained a superficial scratch on his right forearm.

Scott told police that Nathan became irate while screaming at him after he asked him to get off the game. Scott stated Nathan shoved him and they began fighting.

Scott’s left ear was found to be actively bleeding, possibly from a small laceration from the altercation. I also observed a small superficial scratch on his left elbow.

Due to mutual combat and both parties being aggressors, Nathan and Scott were both advised that they were under arrest.

Both are charged with battery.
