SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) -The Center for Courageous Kids (CCK) is gearing up for another summer filled with adventure, growth, and friendship.
Located in Scottsville, CCK offers a free, medically safe camp experience for children living with serious illnesses and disabilities.
Since opening its doors, CCK has helped thousands of campers build confidence and independence while forming lifelong friendships. Activities like horseback riding, fishing, arts and crafts, and canoeing are designed to help campers step outside their comfort zones in a supportive environment.
“At CCK, we want every camper to grow in confidence, gain independence, and meet their new best friend,” said Darren Dannelly, President and CEO of The Center for Courageous Kids.
One camper’s story perfectly highlights the camp’s impact. She arrived at CCK at just five years old and had never been in a canoe before. Through the encouragement and support of the staff, she tried canoeing for the first time.
Now, years later, she serves as the coxswain of her high school rowing team. Having aged out of the camp, she will return this summer as one of CCK’s newest counselors, ready to inspire a new generation of campers.
Summer sessions are quickly filling up, and registration information can be found on the Center for Courageous Kids’ website.
As the camp continues to grow, its mission remains the same: to provide children with serious illnesses the opportunity to discover their strength, build friendships, and have a life-changing summer experience
