Matthew McConaughey was joined by wife Camila Alves McConaughey and their three children for a rare full-family appearance.
During the 13th annual Mack, Jack & McConaughey Gala — a two-day fundraising event for youth charities by Mack Brown, Jack Ingram and Matthew McConaughey — the McConaugheys walked the red carpet as a family, marking the first red carpet appearance all together in a year. (The last full-family red carpet appearance was at the same gala last year.)
The couple — who met in 2006 and tied the knot in 2012 — were joined at the event by their three children: Levi, 16, Vida, 15, and Livingston, 12. The entire family decided to wear the same color palette for the evening, all opting for a white and black color scheme.
Matthew McConaughey wore head-to-toe white with gray sneakers and a gold chain. Camila Alves McConaughey sported a black and white floral dress.

Vida — who bares striking resemblance to her mother — wore a white strapless floor-length dress with a delicate gold-and-black-beading detail. Levi and Livingston McConaughey both wore dark suits with white shirts (Livingston opted for a T-shirt instead of the dress shirt his brother wore) and gold accessories. Livingston — who got a haircut from his father in 2023 to mixed reactions from fans — also seems to be back at a professional hairstylist.
While this was a rare red carpet appearance for the family, it seems that the public can expect to see more of Levi McConaughey soon as he’s decided to follow in his dad’s footsteps, pursing a career in acting. He’s set to make his onscreen debut in the upcoming film “Way of the Warrior Kid” alongside Chris Pratt.

In 2021, Alves McConaughey revealed to TODAY that her husband is a very “disciplined” and “hands-on” dad. And he seems to be helping Levi with his acting dreams, as Levi told People that his dad has shared some acting tips.
“I mean, he gave me a lot of advice, and he was able to mentor me in a couple different ways,” Levi said in a red carpet interview with the outlet. “But I’d say the main thing for acting, and pardon my French, is no b******* in your bones and own what you’re doing and make a choice regardless if that ends up being the right one or the wrong one — commit to it and know what you’re saying.”
Matthew McConaughey told TODAY in 2023 that his son isn’t the only one learning. He even shared that his oldest son taught him a “big lesson.”
“My eldest child teaches me daily about consideration. He’s extremely considerate,” Matthew McConaughey said.
He told TODAY that he’s learned a different lesson from his daughter, Vida, about “leniency and forgiveness.”
“She’ll put you in jail, but she’ll also give you the key to get out of the cell when she puts you in,” he jokingly said.

Meanwhile, for his youngest, Matthew McConaughey shared that he adores Livingston’s “tunnel vision focus on achievement.”
“He gets extremely focused,” the Oscar-winner told TODAY. “And when I see that look in his eye, I already know that today he’s going to play great or he’s going to nail this, and he does.”
While Levi has acting dreams, the “Dallas Buyers Club” star’s other children haven’t clarified their career ambitions yet — although they seem to have a knack for photography, even taking magazine photos for their dad during Covid-19 quarantine.
Being a dad has always been a priority for Matthew McConaughey, telling TODAY in 2021 that “the most important thing on my plate is fatherhood.”
“You have children, you start thinking more about the future than I did before,” he added. “My family is No. 1 for me right now.”

This priority stems from his own childhood, the “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” star revealed to Willie Geist on Sunday TODAY in 2020. His memoir, “Greenlights,” detailed some of his childhood struggles.
“I tell these stories that are bloody and ugly and sometimes violent,” he said on Sunday TODAY. “And I think the reason I tell them is that those were times where the love that we had — that was never in question — was most challenged but never had a chance of being beat.”
Despite having an eight-year estrangement from his mother, McConaughey said he doesn’t see her prior actions as abuse.
“Is it really fair for someone else to say that, if the person who is actually sane and very conscious of what happened says, ‘No, it wasn’t?’” McConaughey said. “I’m not in denial of it. My mom and dad are not in denial of it. So, I don’t know that it’s really fair for someone to tell someone else, ‘Oh, you’ve been victimized, and you were abused,’ if that person goes, ‘No, no, I wasn’t. That isn’t how I took it.’”
That being said, he told Geist that he won’t raise his own children the same way.
“I choose, in our family, to have much more dialogue than my parents chose or their parents chose,” he said. “My wife and I do a little more explaining. ‘OK, let’s debate this out.’ … And even today, my mom goes, ‘Geez, y’all talk about it too much.’”
