GREENFIELD — Franklin County’s YMCA at 451 Main St. will host its annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering a variety of free family-friendly activities to encourage healthy children, healthy families and a healthy start to summer.

“It is so important for kids to stay active over the summer, both physically and mentally,” Director of Development Maddy Oldenburg said in a statement. “At the Y, we believe in providing resources for families to create healthy habits, no matter the time of year. We are excited to be able to share what the Y has to offer while also being able to showcase our great community businesses and organizations who are joining us for this fun day.”

Healthy Kids Day welcomes back mascots Boomer (Springfield Thunderbirds) and Paws (Valley Blue Sox), the UMass women’s soccer team and the Greenfield Kiwanis Club handing out free bicycle helmets to children in need. There will be a performance from the Y’s Tumbling Tigers Gymnastics Team, Zumba with Bella, and a demonstration of youth wrestling with the help of Franklin County Technical School’s wrestlers.

Stone Soup Cafe will serve a pay-what-you-can lunch for attendees. K-9 Officer Frank will be in attendance, the Greenfield Police and Fire departments will have their vehicles out for children to explore, and All States Materials Group will bring some trucks.

Meanwhile, a snow cone and leotard sale will benefit the gymnastics team. There will also be a Free Store for families to pick up clothing and toys at no cost.

DJ Lazer Chicken will provide music, and there will be face painting, glitter tattoos and balloon art.
