DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) -National Teach Children to Save Day is an annual event, promoted by the American Bankers Association Foundation, that is focused on encouraging children to develop good money-management habits.
It’s celebrated on the fourth Thursday of April, which in 2025, falls on April 24.

Little Hawk Club
Blackhawk Bank & Trust is introducing the Little Hawk Club: Big Lessons for Little Savers—a fun and educational savings program designed to make banking exciting, hands-on, and rewarding. The program is not just about putting money away—it’s about sparking curiosity, building confidence, and celebrating small wins.
How the Program Works
When a child joins the Little Hawk Club, they get:
- Their own savings account and
- A piggy bank at account opening
- Fun prizes when they visit a branch
- Birthday surprises
- Exclusive invites to kid-friendly events
- A quarterly newsletter
- Most importantly, they begin earning interest—seeing how their money grows over time.
The bank’s first Little Hawk Club events are coming up soon including a Treasure for Mom event the day before Mother’s Day, and a sidewalk chalk decorating day, for the bank’s anniversary on June 28.
