DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — A new soul food restaurant, Shirley T’s, is bringing a taste of Southern cooking to Riverside Drive.
The eatery offers a variety of homemade soul food staples, including chitlins, turkey legs, collard greens, pig’s feet, and mac and cheese, all served in a cafeteria-style setting where diners can choose their own plates.
Ebone Martin, the general manager of Shirley T’s, explained the restaurant’s concept. “Why wait? Everywhere you go nowadays, you’re waiting, even if you go to a big chain restaurant, you’re waiting. So our idea was to bring you through the line, you pick your foods, you go right and sit down,” she said.
