Chevrolet is ushering its iconic Super Sport (SS) badge into the electric age with the debut of the Blazer EV SS, its first all-electric performance model, and the quickest-accelerating SS in the brand’s history.
Packing 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, the Blazer EV SS can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds when using its Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode. It’s also the most powerful EV in its class, signaling a bold step forward as Chevrolet expands its electric vehicle portfolio.

The launch reflects General Motors‘ broader electrification strategy and aligns with Chevrolet’s standing as the fastest-growing EV brand in the U.S. For car dealers and manufacturers, the Blazer EV SS provides an enticing blend of performance and practicality, positioning it competitively against high-performance electric SUVs like the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Tesla Model Y Performance.
The SS badge has long stood for driving excitement, dating back to 1961 when the first Impala SS introduced heavy-duty suspension, power brakes, and bold styling cues to the production line. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the SS family expanded rapidly, with the Chevelle SS, Camaro SS, El Camino SS, and others becoming icons of American muscle. While the badge briefly disappeared during the gas-conscious late ’70s, it re-emerged in the 1980s and 1990s with models like the Monte Carlo SS and Silverado 454 SS.
The 21st century saw a renaissance in SS models across segments, including sport compacts like the Cobalt SS, the SUV-based Trailblazer SS, and the return of the Camaro SS in 2010. Since its inception, more than 4 million SS-badged vehicles have been sold, with over 400,000 Camaro SS models delivered since 2010 alone.
Now, the Blazer EV SS is poised to carry that legacy forward, fusing the spirit of American performance with next-generation electric technology. For performance-minded EV shoppers and the dealers serving them, it marks a compelling milestone in Chevrolet’s electrification journey.
