(WSAZ) — Say goodbye to some food dyes.
The Food and Drug Administration plans to phase out the use of petroleum-based synthetic dyes in the U.S. food supply.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. making the announcement Tuesday along with FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary.
We spoke to West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey about the Mountain State trying to lead the charge after the governor signed a bill into law in March banning certain food dyes in the state.
“People are going to be hearing a lot more about getting the crap out of the food,” Gov. Morrisey said. “This builds in with the other health care related initiatives that I’ve put forth in the Mountain State to make sure that we’re incentivizing the consumption of healthy foods and bundles through.”
Morrisey also went on to encourage the Mountaineer Mile Initiative so West Virginians can have fun while getting healthy.
