Children’s book shows kids God is with them all the time

A Marietta woman drawing on her experience in Christian education has written her first book.

The Christian children’s book “God Sees You, And He Knows Your Name” encourages kids to pursue their dreams and reassures them God is with them throughout their daily lives, said Peggy Boring, a retired children’s minister who returned to Marietta after living in Morgantown, W.Va.

“I also wanted to leave a legacy for my children and grandchildren,” Boring said.

Boring, a native of Marietta, has a degree in Christian education from West Virginia Wesleyan College at Buckhannon. She also is an ordained minister.

Writing a book was a natural step because of her involvement with teaching children, Boring said.

“I always enjoyed working with children,” she said. “It just came to me one day that I should write a book.”

Among the illustrations and verses are Bible passages including Jeremiah 1:5 and Phillipians 1:16.

“God sees you…He sees you when you pray.

Did you know that you pray anywhere?

God listens to our prayers.

“You can pray for others, too – daddy, mommy, your brothers and sisters, your pets, your grandparents –

You can say anything to God.”

The book was completed in November, however, then began the process of editing and illustrating, she said. Publishers are Christian Faith Publishing of Meadville, Pa.

“It went together pretty quickly,” said Boring, who also has a second children’s book in mind based on young twins around 5 years old.

“You always think you’re done, then you edit, edit and edit,” she said.

The book grew, and grew, and grew, she said. It is illustrated by Pumudi Gardiyawasam.

“God Sees You, And He Knows Your Name” is available in bookstores and online at Amazon.com, Apple iTunes store or Barnes and Noble. Cost on Amazon is $23.95 for a hard cover, $15.95 for paperback and $9.99 for a Kindle version.

Boring and her husband, Roger, are both retired and run River Rock Cottage, an Air BnB on the west side in Marietta. They also purchased a home and live next door to the inn.
