ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A day dedicated to fun, fitness and family is coming to the Muskingum County YMCA on April 26 as part of a nationwide effort to promote healthier lifestyles among children and families.
The local Y will join more than 1,400 YMCA locations across the country in celebrating Healthy Kids Day, a free event aimed at encouraging kids to stay active and explore new interests.
“Healthy Kids Day is a national program that our YMCA is [doing] to help get our kids from the community into the YMCA and show [them] the programs that we have,” said Jackie Tellez, YMCA aquatics director.
The YMCA offers year-round programs that go beyond fitness, including swim lessons, youth sports, summer camps and after-school activities. The goal is to provide a safe and engaging environment where kids can grow and thrive.
Activities at the event will include bounce houses, local vendors and hands-on activities designed to get families moving and engaged with their community.
Healthy Kids Day is open to the public and free to attend.
