Pete Hegseth’s kids cringe as their dad goes after press at White House Easter Egg Roll over Signalgate 2.0.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ranted against the media Monday, calling them “hoaxsters” amid a another Signal chat leak report, as his young kids uncomfortably stood behind him at the White House Easter Egg Roll.

“This is what the media does,” Hegseth began. “They take anonymous sources from disgruntled former employees, and then they try to slash and burn people and ruin their reputations.”

Hegseth railed over news reports that he shared Yemen attack plans in another Signal group chat that included his wife and brother.

His children awkwardly stood behind the defense secretary — at times grimacing, wincing, and even laughing — appearing to react to their father as he addressed reporters.

“These kids right here,” Hegseth said as one his sons started to laugh. “These kids right here. This is why we’re fighting the fake news media.”

“This group right here,” the defense secretary said, addressing the reporters, “full of hoaxsters that peddle anonymous sources from leakers with axes to grind. And then you put it all together as if it’s some news story.”

President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House Easter Egg Roll that he maintains full confidence in Hegseth as defense secretary, and deemed any concerns about his actions as a “waste of time.”
