Getting Answers: Why did Burlington food shelf move to Winooski?

WINOOSKI, Vt. (WCAX) – A recent change to a critical resource for many low-income families in Northern Vermont has some people asking questions.

Our viewer, Wendy, wondered about the Burlington food shelf’s recent move. “Would be curious to know why the Burlington Food Shelf had to move temporarily to the O’Brien Center in Winooski,” she said.

Feeding Champlain Valley says the food shelf has been moved there because of construction to revamp their location on North Winooski Avenue in Burlington.

Feeding Champlain Valley says they’re still seeing 100 people a day at the O’Brien Center. And they’ve started using their Good Food truck to serve meals from their temporary community resource center location at 184 Pearl Street in Burlington on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. until noon.
