Nintendo has officially announced the preorder date for the Nintendo Switch 2 after previously delaying it following the console’s announcement citing the Trump administration’s newly-enacted tariffs and uncertain market conditions.
In a new post on the Nintendo website, the company revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 would become available for preorder at retailers on April 24, 2025.

Nintendo has opted to keep the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 the same as it was when announced, $449.99 for the console by itself and $499.99 with a bundled digital copy of Mario Kart World. Pricing for physical and digital games published by Nintendo will also remain the same — $80 for Mario Kart World and $70 for Donkey Kong Bananza.
Not everything has remained at the same price, however, as the company has revealed that all previously revealed accessories – such as the Pro Controller, Joy-Con 2 sets, the Switch 2 camera, and additional dock sets – have received a price increase. Price increases on these accessories are mostly around $5, with additional dock sets rising by $10, up to a new price of $120.

Nintendo says that it makes no promises that pricing will remain the same in the future, with a disclaimer saying that “other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions.”
Preorders will open at Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Walmart, and other retailers on April 24, 2025. Amazon is not expected to carry the console at this stage.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released globally on June 5, 2025.
