
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Two kids have been taken to the hospital after police say they suffered severe injuries in a firework accident on South Bend’s southeast side.
Officers were called around 5:45 p.m. to the area of Ironwood Drive and Calvert Street on reports of a possible shooting.
Police say they quickly determined there was no shooting, but they learned two children had suffered injuries from a firework.
WNDU 16 News Now is told that three children under the age of 13 were playing with fireworks when the accident happened. Two of them were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Police say their injuries are severe but non-life-threatening.
