Italy deliver very serious food and drink instructions at ISU World Team Trophy: ‘Never ever put pineapple on pizza’

The Italian team delivered some very serious culinary instructions at the ISU World Team Trophy 2025 event in Tokyo on Thursday.

There was an explosion of colour across the six ‘kiss-and-cry’ areas at the figure skating competition, with pom-poms, wigs, flags, balloons, mascots, and costumes adding a fun-factor to the end-of-season event featuring Canada, France, Georgia, Italy, Japan, and the United States.

And Italy certainly came prepared, bringing four round posters with images of famous Italian cuisines and some strict advice on the back.

Weighing in on the viral debate, Marco Fabbri held a sign reading “Never ever put pineapple on pizza”, while ice dance partner Charlene Guignard held one saying, “Parmigiana is made with eggplants”.
