The 9 Major Reveals from the 2025 New York Auto Show

Once again, the New York Auto Show delivered a wave of new vehicle unveilings. While American automakers kept things relatively quiet, only unveiling a special edition of the Jeep Wagoneer, Korean manufacturers and Subaru used the stage to introduce several notable updates. As expected, electrification remains a central theme.

Here are the nine standout reveals from the 2026 New York Auto Show.

Genesis X Gran Equator Concept

On the sidelines of the New York Auto Show, Genesis pulled the wraps off the X Gran Equator Concept. This marks the luxury brand’s first exploration into the rugged world of overlanding-inspired luxury SUVs. The concept examines how Genesis’ premium identity could blend with off-road capability.

At the same time, Genesis reaffirmed its motorsport ambitions by unveiling the GMR-001, a purpose-built endurance race car.

2026 Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai introduced the 2026 Palisade in its North American debut. Now entering its second generation, the mid-size SUV gains a rugged new XRT Pro trim. A hybrid powertrain has been added to the lineup, while the V6 remains available. The updated Palisade features a fully redesigned exterior and interior.

2025 Jeep Wagoneer Overland Special Edition

Jeep presented the 2025 Wagoneer Overland Special Edition at the New York Auto Show and the Easter Jeep Safari event. This Edition is designed for enhanced off-road capability and includes a two-speed transfer case, an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential, and 32-inch tires.

2026 Kia EV4

Kia’s first-ever fully electric sedan, the EV4, debuted at the show. Offering a targeted range of up to 531 kilometres, the EV4 will arrive in Canada in early 2026 in front-wheel drive format. An all-wheel drive variant will follow shortly thereafter.

2026 Kia K4 Hatchback

Kia also used the opportunity to debut the 2026 K4 Hatchback. Based on the recently revealed K4 sedan, the hatchback adds a more versatile cargo area, offering 628.6 litres of storage behind the rear seats. It retains the same powertrain options as the sedan version.

2026 Subaru Solterra

Subaru made a big splash with three significant reveals. First up was the 2026 Solterra, which received a refreshed design, an extended driving range (now rated at 450 kilometres), and an increased power output of up to 338 horsepower.

2026 Subaru Trailseeker

Subaru expanded its EV lineup with the all-new Trailseeker, a larger and taller version of the Solterra. Designed specifically for the North American market, the Trailseeker offers an estimated 420-kilometre range and adds to Subaru’s growing electric ambitions.

2026 Subaru Outback

Subaru also introduced the seventh-generation Outback. Long known as a lifted wagon, the 2026 model now officially enters SUV territory. It maintains the same powertrain offerings, including a rugged Wilderness edition geared toward off-road adventures.

2026 Volkswagen Tiguan Turbo

Volkswagen has added more punch to its third-generation Tiguan lineup with the 2026 Turbo Highline R-Line trim. This version boosts output to 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, offering more performance in a stylish package.
