Bill MilesBeeping Easter Egg Hunt brings joy to visually impaired kids

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) -The annual Bill MilesBeeping Easter Egg Hunt was in full effect Wednesday. 21 visual impaired kids from multiple counties were in attendance. The Bridgeport Lions Club believes their Easter egg hunt is a great outlet for the kids

“It gives them the opportunity to come together and see other children that are using a cane, other brail readers. Other children that are like themselves and experiencing the same challenges,” said Trina Britcher, Bridgeport Lions Club.

The Easter egg hunt has been going on since the 1980s. The hunt was the brainchild of Lions Club member Bill Miles who was all about helping kids. The Lions Club stresses community outreach.

“We’ve given money and helped with the inclusive playground we send kids to boys state and girls state, it all a part of community involvement,” said Roger Murray, Bridgeport Lions Club.

Today, would not have been possible without the help of Harrison County Schools and multiple other organizations. Officials said the event is was all about fun.

“I hope that they leave with a great fun experience just like when we were kids and we went our field trips. It was a fun day for them. They’ve improved some of their skills, they feel a little bit more confident.”
