
Rhode Island restaurants you have to try
Prime dining-out season is here. It’s time to catch up with friends over dinner or have a date night while the kids do homework.
- Food Truck Friday returns to Roger Williams Park Carousel Village on April 18 and continues weekly through September.
- Warwick Food Truck Nights at Crowne Plaza start monthly on April 17 and run through October.
- Food Truck Concert Nights at Diamond Hill Park, Cumberland, begin monthly on April 24.
- Additional food truck events are scheduled throughout the summer in Richmond, Fall River, Lincoln, Johnston, Portsmouth, Attleboro, and Burrillville.
It’s almost food truck season in Rhode Island. It hasn’t quite got the history of May Breakfasts but it does herald a change of seasons and a casual way to eat al fresco.
PVD Food Truck Events kick off this week for the 11th season with events in Warwick and Providence. The lineup of food truck gatherings includes live music and family-friendly activities. All events are free to attend – pay for what you eat and drink. A selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from Good Vibes Bevs will be served, where permitted.
Food Truck Friday at Roger Williams Park Carousel Village, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence, returns on Friday, April 18, and continues weekly through September. A rotating lineup of 75 local food trucks will sell their food. Hasbro’s Boundless Playground, carousel rides and train rides (additional fee) are on site. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle into one of the picnic areas or shaded grassy spaces throughout the park. Go to foodtrucksin.com/foodtruckfriday for more details.

Future events beginning in May include: Food Truck Roll Back to Richmond on Thursday, May 8 and continues monthly at 5 Richmond Townhouse Road; Fall River Food Trucks at the Gates on Thursday, May 29 and select Thursdays at Ponta Delgada Boulevard; and Food Trucks & Concerts at Chase Farm, Lincoln on Monday, May 26 and select Saturdays at 667 Great Road.
June events include Food Trucks at Johnston Memorial Park, 1583 Hartford Ave., starting Thursday, June 5; Food Truck Sunsets at New England Safe Harbor Boatworks, Portsmouth, beginning Saturday, June 21 and continuing on select Saturdays at 1 Lagoon Road; Picnic in the Park at Capron Park, Attleboro, on Sunday, June 22 and select Sundays at 201 County St.; and Assembly of Food Trucks in Burrillville on Sunday, June 29, and continues on select Sundays at 26 East Ave.
