Experts show how to avoid getting audited by the IRS
Here’s a look at how the Internal Revenue Service chooses taxpayers to audit — and how you can, for the most part, avoid being selected.
Tax Day is Tuesday, April 15, and you can celebrate the end of the tax season by filing your return and grabbing a bite for free.
Tax Day always falls on April 15 almost every year, unless that day conflicts with a weekend or a holiday.
From free doughnuts, discounted appetizers and 1-cent cheeseburgers, here are some deals you can find on Tuesday.
Krispy Kreme offering a free dozen with purchase
On April 15, Krispy Kreme customers can purchase any dozen doughnuts in the shop and receive a second Original Glazed dozen for just the price of sales tax in their state, the company said in a news release.
Anyone who orders a dozen online at regular price for pickup or delivery can use the promo code “TAXBREAK” to receive a second Original Glazed dozen for free, the company said.
There is a limit of two dozen per guest in the shop and one free dozen when ordering online.
“We know how stressful tax season can be, so we’re making the last day to file your taxes a little sweeter with this great offer,” said Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme Chief Growth Officer, in the news release.
Hooters offering discounted appetizers
On April 15, Hooters customers can get one select appetizer for $4.15 when you apply your reward in the Hooters app at checkout at participating locations.
Customers can choose between mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, chips and queso, and buffalo shrimp.
Burger King offering 1-cent cheeseburgers
On April 15, Royal Perks members can get a 1-cent cheeseburger with a $1+ purchase at participating Burger King restaurants.
The offer is available under the “Offers” tab on the BK App and online at BK.com

Smoothie King offering discounted smoothies
On April 15, Smoothie King is offering Healthy Rewards Members $3 off your $15 purchase and $4 off your $20 purchase, the company told USA TODAY.
