Dozens of kids laced up their sneakers for a free Junior Basketball Clinic, hosted by the Misericordia university’s basketball teams.
The event was part of an effort to give away 650 basketballs from the recent “Basketball Pyramid” art installation by David Huffman — featured in the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery’s “Personal to Political” exhibition, which closed in March.
“With the pyramid, if you host the pyramid, he has you give them away to the community. That way, the university becomes part of the community, and students get used to coming on campus,” said Lalaine Little, director of the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery.
Each child, ages 5 to 13, went home with a size 6 basketball — a colorful keepsake blending art and athletics. The gallery still has more to give, so check their social media for upcoming events.
