WINNSBORO, La. (KNOE) – Winnsboro’s first annual Southern Food and Music Festival brought music, food, and fun back to the town. According to Mayor Alice Wallace, it’s been nearly a decade since the town hosted a festival.
Festival organizers expected thousands of visitors, many from outside of Winnsboro. Mayor Wallace said she hopes those visitors leave with a true sense of what makes the town special.
“I’m hoping that the visitors that come to Winnsboro will take a feeling back to their hometown that Winnsboro is a great place to be,” said Mayor Wallace.
She added that this festival has been in the works for quite some time and said she was glad to see her vision become reality.
“As I see my dream come true today in my hometown—the place that I love—it is very special to me,” she said.
The festival featured a wide variety of vendors, from food to clothing. One Winnsboro business owner shared his excitement for the new businesses the event could bring and the chance to connect with people from all over Northeast Louisiana.
“I mean, we’re going to be out here later on this evening, so that gives people time to get up, get ready, get dressed, and come out here to support and fellowship with everybody—and that’s the blessed thing that it is,” said business owner Nicholas Short Sr.
Mayor Wallace said she hopes this festival becomes an annual tradition and continues to grow in both size and attendance in the years to come.
