Staten Island Passover Food Pantry Distribution provides holiday meals to 300 families

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Joan & Alan Bernikow Jewish Community Center of Staten Island, in partnership with MetCouncil, hosted a drive-thru Passover Food Pantry Distribution on Wednesday, helping ensure that hundreds of local families could celebrate the holiday with traditional meals.

During the event, 300 families received Kosher for Passover food packages, carefully prepared and distributed by a dedicated team of more than 50 volunteers who spent the day packing and handing out the items.

“This Passover Food Pantry Distribution is a meaningful tradition that allows us to support Staten Island families who face food insecurity,” said Orit Lender, CEO of the Jewish Community Center. “Passover is all about sharing meals with family, and this effort helps make that possible for those who might otherwise go without during the holiday.”

In addition to the drive-thru distribution, the JCC received 100 pre-prepared Kosher for Passover meals for food pantry clients, generously provided by Rethink Food and MetCouncil.

Rethink Food works with a national network of restaurants and food providers to deliver nutritious meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
