Buffalo’s culinary cred just got another national nod.
The city’s beloved Taste of Buffalo has been named the No. 3 best city food festival in the country by readers of USA Today.
The annual event draws upward of 450,000 people each year to the Upstate New York region with restaurants, food trucks and wineries serving up deep-fried delights, sizzling street eats and showcase of local flavors.
This year’s event will be held on July 12-13 and takes place along Delaware Avenue in front of City Hall, centered around Niagara Square.
The publication praised the festival for its bounty of local flavors, from beef on weck and sponge candy to New York state wines — and, of course, Buffalo wings.
In addition to showcasing Western New York’s culinary scene, the event also supports the next generation of food professionals. In its history, the event has raised and awarded more than $606,000 in scholarships to high school seniors.
The Best City Food Festival list was topped by the Queens Night Market in Queens.

Buffalo’s food scene isn’t only getting attention for Taste of Buffalo. The city’s National Chicken Wing Festival ranked in the third spot in USA Today’s top 10 list of specialty food festivals.
Now in its 23rd year, the National Buffalo Wing Festival celebrates the iconic chicken wing with more than 20 restaurants from across the country serving over 125 styles.
The Labor Day weekend festivities will be held at award-winning Sahlen Field, home of the Buffalo Bisons Baseball Team, on Aug. 30-31. There’s live music, wing-eating championships, bobbing for wings in a pool of blue cheese dressing, and much more.
Much like Taste of Buffalo, the wing festival gives back to the local community and has donated over $500,000 to local charities since its inception.
