Chicken wings are amazing, but one Yankees outfielder won’t be eating any for the foreseeable future.
Cody Bellinger has reportedly sworn off chicken wings for five years after wings he ordered at the Yankees’ team hotel in Detroit gave him food poisoning.
According to ESPN, Bellinger said he ordered traditional bone-in wings with no sauces, spices or rubs while he watched the NCAA tournament national championship game.
“They were good coming in,” Bellinger said Wednesday. “But I woke up at 4 a.m. sweating and just started throwing up for a few hours. It was a tough morning.”
Bellinger, who is in his first season with the Yankees, sat out New York’s loss against the Tigers on Tuesday. He returned on Wednesday, striking out three times in New York’s 4-3 win,
“I can say I will not eat wings for five years,” Bellinger said. “I swear. Because the thought of it right now makes me sick.”
Try Sweetwater Tavern next time, Cody.
