2 News joins Utah Food Bank to package food for families in need during annual service day

The 2 News staff spent the day helping at the Utah Food Bank packing pasta ends for families in need as part of the annual KUTV 2 NEWS Day of Service DAY OF SERVICE with our parent company’s Sinclair Day of Service.

Forty people spent an hour and a half each in the pantry kitchen volunteering a total of sixty service hours.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints makes pasta for their food pantries and shares the ends chopped off the pasta with the food bank.

Instead of going to waste the spaghetti bites were packaged by the 2-news team for families who use mobile food pantries across the state.

Every day in Utah, 415- thousand members of our communities are at risk of missing a meal.

Just last year, the Utah food bank distributed sixty-five million pounds of food, or enough to make fifty-four million meals.

You can donate time, money, or food to the Utah Food Bank.

Volunteering with the 2 News staff was a fantastic way to have fun, get out of the office and help our neighbors in need.

If you’d like to organize a group to volunteer go online and sign up at utahfoodbank.org/give-time.
