Laredo events help kids, families, and first responders

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Several events are taking place Wednesday, April 9, across Laredo to support children, families, and local fire crews.

Laredo city leaders are meeting at City Hall to share a message about stopping child abuse. At 10:00 a.m., they will make April “Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month” in Laredo.

At 10:30 a.m., Sames Honda kicked off its “Test Drive for Smiles” event on Bob Bullock Loop. For every test drive, Sames will donate to Driscoll Children’s Hospital to help kids needing care.

Also on Wednesday, the Rotary Club of Laredo Daybreak gave fire and medical gear to two local fire stations. They will stop at the Rio Bravo Volunteer Fire Department at 11:00 a.m. and then head to the El Cenizo Community Volunteer Fire Department at 11:30 a.m. The new gear will help crews during emergencies.

Each event has one goal — to help others in the community.
