UPPER MICHIGAN, (WLUC) – Feeding America West Michigan and its mobile food pantry are back in the U.P. for food distribution events throughout the week in Dickinson, Alger, and Marquette counties.
It comes one week after falling ice forced multiple closures of the Mackinac Bridge, cancelling multiple food distribution events as a result.
Wednesday and Thursday, April 9 and 10, Feeding America has three food distribution events scheduled. The first is in Dickinson County at Redemption Hill Church at 332 S. Carpenter Avenue in Kingsford. Food distribution there begins at 10 a.m. Central time Wednesday.
The second event is at Munising Wesleyan Church at n6310 Knox Street in Munising. Food will be distributed there starting at noon Eastern time.
The final event of the week takes place at Silver Creek Thrift Store at 219 Silver Creek Road in Chocolay Township. That runs from 10 a.m. while supplies last, or 11:30 a.m. Eastern time, Thursday morning. For this pantry, there will be enough food on hand to feed approximately 550 families.
Each pantry is a drive-thru event. Volunteers may ask for the name, address, and household size of any family you are picking food up for. Attendees can pick up food for as many as six families.
