SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Folks dining out Monday in Sevierville helped make sure every child has shoes to wear to school.
Buddy’s BBQ in Sevierville hosted a fundraiser as part of their Mission Monday.
For the fundraiser, 50% of the sales at Buddy’s went to Taylor Faith Ministries in Sevier County.
Over the past decade, they have provided more than 4,000 pairs of shoes to kids who had nothing to wear.
With growing kids, sometimes they’re in need several times through the year.
“We get requests from teachers and administrators in the school system, and when they give us a size, we try to go half a size up, that way will last them a little bit longer. But if they need an extra pair during the year, then we’ll give them an extra pair,” said Brenda Byrd with Taylor Faith Ministries.
Mission Monday continued until the last meal was served at Buddy’s on Monday.
The mission also helps provide socks to the kids and, in some cases, rent payments.
