GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) — Project Feed the Kids is marking a significant milestone this weekend as it celebrates its five-year anniversary.
The non-profit organization, which began in 2020, has surpassed the distribution of 500,000 free meals to the community.
Project Feed the Kids provides free lunches to families in need, operating six coolers around the community and distributing 3,000 meals every week, 24 hours a day.
The organization offers these meals with no questions asked and no qualifications needed.
In honor of these achievements, a portion of the proceeds from sales at J&S Hamburg South on Saturday and Sunday were donated to the non-profit.
“Five years. 500,000 means so much to me personally,” said Tiffany McQueer of Project Feed the Kids. “We started this program because my husband and I, and our children, was the family that was in need. And now being able to be the family that is able to help the families that is in need. It means so much to us.”
