‘Keeping Kids Safe’ – local experts check car seats for safety

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Keeping kids safe while in cars was the goal behind an event over the weekend in Sioux City.

Parents and children came out to Knoepfler Auto on Saturday, April 5, for a free safety inspection.

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians looked at car seats with children in them to see how they fit in their seats, and if they were installed properly. The technicians checked on their condition and discussed any adjustments parents could make to their child’s seat to help them ride safer.

“Our job is for parents and children to leave more knowledgeable and safer than when they arrived at our event.” said Nancy Gibson, a child passenger, safety instructor.

Gibson also says that there’s another car seat inspection planned for the fall.

If you want to check sooner, there are people available to help at UnityPoint St. Luke’s and at Sioux City Fire Rescue.
