Kids Are Learning Entrepreneurship In Wyoming This Summer

Summer is just around the corner, and if your kids aged 5-17 are looking to learn about business and make money, you should get them signed up for the five Children’s Entreprenuer Markets.

When your kids participate in the Children’s Entrepreneur Markets, they learn about what it takes to be a successful businessperson, people skills, leadership skills, learning about budgeting, marketing, and product information.

The program started in Utah and has already helped over 10,000 kids strive and thrive by participating in the markets.

Holly Shepperson, manager of the Casper Market, says:

We are thrilled to partner with local events to offer this incredible opportunity for kids to gain real-world entrepreneurial experience

Here’s the catch: parents, grandparents, or other family members cannot interfere with the child’s progress. The idea of the markets is for the kids to learn all aspects of business.

This means:

  • The kids must interact with customers and take payment for their products without help.
  • The kids have to be able to create their products, cook, and serve the food they’ve prepared themselves.
  • The young entrepreneur needs to be able to answer questions, close sales, and manage money.
  • Parents must be on site to supervise their children but are not allowed to help. If the kids aren’t around, there cannot be any sales.

Four of the five events this summer are in Casper, and the fifth is in Douglas.

The first event will be on June 5 at David Street Station for Art Walk. Next will be Jackalope Days in Douglas on June 13. There’s another Art Walk at the city parking lot in Casper on July 10. The Platte River Trails Riverfest is on August 9 at Crossroad Park. The markets for this summer will wrap up at the food-a-palooza and car show at El Marko Lanes on September 1.
