HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A celebration of life is set for Bobby Curran, one of the legendary voices of Rainbow athletics.
The longtime sports broadcasting legend died March 9 at St. Francis Hospice in Nuuanu. He was 69 years old.
Curran’s celebration of life will take place Sunday, April 13, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Murphy’s Bar & Grill on Merchant Street in downtown Honolulu.
The public is invited, but due to limited seating, some areas will be reserved for family and close friends.
Kanoa Leahey and John Veneri will serve as emcees, and speakers will include Pastor Norman Nakanishi and Coach June Jones, among other friends and family.
Curran’s wife, Jo McGarry Curran, will also be announcing a foundation in his honor.
Curran hosted “The Bobby Curran Show” on ESPN Honolulu and called more than 400 broadcasts in 32 seasons of covering University of Hawaii football, the longest in program history.
