Elon Musk savagely mocked after ‘attempting to prove’ he’s good at video games

Tesla CEO Elon Musk had social media users in fits of laughter after attempting to showcase his gaming skills.

The tech mogul, 53, surprisingly topped the global leaderboards for Diablo 4, the latest hit dungeon crawler released in June 2023.

Despite his responsibilities as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, it appears Musk has mastered the art of efficiently leveling up his character. However, skepticism arose among Diablo 4 enthusiasts regarding Musk’s actual abilities in the game.

The billionaire owner eventually admitted he paid players to boost his account, confirming it on social media. He wrote “It’s impossible to beat the players in Asia if you don’t, as they do!”

Musk didn’t stop there; he uploaded a video of himself “playing” Diablo 4 in an attempt to prove his gaming chops.

The video, which shows Musk’s head moving erratically, was met with ridicule from the online community. Comments ranged from outright disbelief to mockery, with one user stating: “He is very obviously, like very very clearly, not playing here.”

Another added: “Imagine being a middle aged man with more money than God and your top priority is convincing people you are good at video games.”

Critics didn’t hold back, with one particularly scathing remark: “Truly every time I think he can’t get more embarrassing and pathetic he proves me wrong with flying screaming exploding colors.”

A third commented: “Big reach here, but I don’t think a staged 20 second clip playing on the account you paid someone else to power-level counts as beating the allegations.”

Not every social media user found Elon Musk’s gaming tactics humorous, suggesting that for someone as busy as the illustrious CEO, it may be reasonable to hire help for grinding through game levels so he can relish his playtime at leisure.

Offering a different perspective, they wrote: “Of all the things he could do with his money, having a high level character so he can enjoy the games he likes in the little time he has to play, without spending months grinding, seems pretty benign.”

However, several voices in the online community argue that Musk’s in-game prowess—or lack thereof—isn’t the heart of the matter, implying an ulterior motive for him projecting a gamer image.

One commentator pointed out: “It is so pathetic the lengths these guys are going to convince you that Elon is good at video games.”

“Like… nobody cares. We’re laughing at him because he NEEDS us to believe him that he’s good at games. It’s the obsession and constant need for validation that we’re mocking.”

Another voiced their frustration: “It’s fine to be average or even suck at video games, It’s just a f**king video game.”

This comes amid revelations from Musk’s estranged daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, who disclosed that she and her sibling were once required to engage in the popular video game Overwatch, a competitive team shooter, along with their father.

She recalled: “When I was 12, he was Bronze in Overwatch, and me and my twin weren’t. He would try to constantly get us to play ranked with him, and I’m 90% sure it was just because we could carry him.”

Elon Musk has been approached for comment.
