National Nutrition Month emphasizes informed food choices and good eating habits

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – March is National Nutrition Month to stress the importance of making informed food choices and develop better eating habits and physical activity habits.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics says nutrition is one of the biggest factors in our health—what we eat can significantly increase or decrease our risk factors for disease or and injury.

The theme for this year’s National Nutrition Month is “Food Connects Us”, emphasizing that sharing a meal is an opportunity to learn about its preparation, who made and where we get the ingredients. Learn more about the theme at www.eatright.org.

Janie Clay, a registered dietician, and her dad and grandad, Edmond and Elister Charleston from the Charleston Farm, brought us a tasty example of how easy it is to take good care of ourselves with the food we eat!
